Resume advise - complete career change

How would you address YEARS of experience into a resume for a totally new and completelly different career?

Would you include it at all?

I worked in Corporate/office/finance and now will transition to a career in Healthcare (Massage Therapy).

I don't want to appear like I have never worked in my life before.

I would include it all, like you said, you don't want to appear as if you haven't been working at all. Then in your cover letter I would explain how you're making a career change. Also, if there are any skills you have learned from working corporate that can also be used in healthcare, be sure to stress those.

Good luck!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Resume advise - complete career change

1. Put your education/training/certification toward the top.

2. Develop a functional resume that highlights the transferrable skills that you would take with you from your previous positions (organization, program management, supervision, etc.)

3. List your employment history last with affiliations, title, and dates.

Re: Resume advise - complete career change

list it all, and spin each job with the facets of each which can apply to your new chosen career....

managerial experience, independence, financial aspects of managing a business (could be applied to a spa)
