Returning out of state plates?
How do I go about doing this? I need to return my TX plates.
Do I just send them (w/delivery confirmation)?
I guess I should call up the TX DMV but thought maybe one of you ladies would know.

Re: Returning out of state plates?
I was in Missouri and I think I just went on the website and got the info from there. I had to fill out a form and send them back and definatley do it certified.

Re: Returning out of state plates?
Just mail them back. Go to TX DMV site, get address and ship out. Def certified so you know they got them.
BTW, Welcome back to NY!

Re: Returning out of state plates?
Uhm, wow! Just asked a colleague, who is from TX and he pointed me to the site and look what I found
"You do not need to return the plates. Our license plates are recyclable, but we recommend you deface the number before discarding them. The number on the plate is tied to your name and could pose a safety risk if not disposed of properly."
SO I do not need to do anything!
Thanks everyone!

\ Yes that is true. When I moved to NJ, I had made sure to march to NY DMV and bring them back.
They were sending me all kinds of letters saying they were going to suspend my license.
To the OP, great that you dont have to deal with the hassle of mailing and worrying it the plates go to TX ok.

I've never returned plates and never had an issue with it.
