Review: Las Vegas/Grand Canyon

We're back and we had the best time! It was wonderful and the only negative was the heat. If you can, try to avoid going in the summer. However, even with the heat, it was wonderful and I say go for it!

We went for one week but you can definitely go for 4-5 days and get a great sense of Vegas.

Hotel: We stayed at Treasure Island. Location is great. The hotel lacks the ambiance of some other hotels (love the Venetian & Bellagio in particular) but you can't beat the location. We had a suite with a view of the strip, which was great.

Shows: We saw Love, the Beatles show. It's the 3rd Cirque show DH & I have seen, and the best one. A must see if you go to Vegas!

Penn & Teller: DH loved it, and I liked it. Worth seeing and the Rio, where it is located, has a crazy float show. We splurged and got front row seats, which are not a must, but it was fun.

We saw all the free night shows and our favorite was the Bellagio's fountains. Very cool.

Food was great, our favorite was the French place in the Venetian, and Social House at Treasure Island. Dinners were a little costly but no worse than a night out in NYC. We had a few buffet breakfasts but nothing there was spectacular. There is every kind of restaurant you can imagine and overall, the food was very, very good.

Must-See:
The Venetian
The Secret Garden at the Mirage -- Siegfried & Roy's animals. There was a 13 day old baby dolphin and white tigers, lions, etc. All the money goes to animal research. A must see!
Bellagio's gardens
Wynn's gardens
Walking up and down the strip

I thought North LV was overrated (The Fremont St experience, the Stratosphere, etc.)

HIGHLIGHT of the whole trip: Our favorite was the Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam day trip. We used Pink Jeep tours, and we highly, highly recommend them. They take you in Suburban and you go with a guide. Our guide was so friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. It was a full day -- we left at 7:30am and returned at 5:30pm but it was worth it and a highlight. We did the skywalk, which was just so cool. At the bottom is a pic of us in front of the skywalk after we got off.

We flew Jet Blue and departed and arrived early both ways.

If you are planning to go, it's definitely a very fun trip! Feel free to FM with questions.

When DH was jumping up and down on the glass, yes! Otherwise, I held onto the sides the whole time but it is definitely worth doing. Grand Canyon is a must!

How much are the Grand Canyon Tours generally and where can you buy them? Are they readily available when we get to Vegas tomorrow???

Looks so fun! I'm so sad that we missed the Grand Canyon when we did Vegas, but I think we are going to do a trip just for the Canyon.

We booked ours after we got there w/o a problem. It was just over $200/person and included all the fees and lunch. Pink Jeep Tours was worth every penny.

Enjoy your trip!Chat Icon
