Revisit or try a new place?

Just wondering what everyone prefers: trying a new hotel/city every time they travel, or return to a previously enjoyed place?

I try to visit a new place each time, because I feel like there's so much to see in the world.

However, I have been to Puerto Rico 5 times..its close, cheap, good weather..love it there

I would also go back to Rome and the French Riviera in a second..

I prefer a new place every time, because as time goes on, my list of places I want to go just gets longer and longer! I figure if I keep revisiting the old, I won't have enough time and money to experience the new.

There are a few favorite places I would revisit given the chance, but I could never be one of those people that goes back to the same place every year. Nothing wrong with it, it's just not my preference.

A new place everytime..there are too many places to see and things to experience..

eta: except for visits "home".. I have go often and I don't mind a bit..

was just talking about this yesterday with dh. a new place.
BUT, i would go to italy 50000 more times if i can. dh has never been!

this is a recurring theme for us.

we love going to Italy. but it's not cheap. and there are other places in the world to go.

so now we do combo trips. we go to Milan for at least a day or two, but see other places also.

this october, we went to Spain then then Italy. we went back to Barcelona, but also to Montserrat, where i had never been, and hung out in the town that dh's cousin lives in.

then when we went to Italy, we went back to Florence, then drove through tuscany, emilia romana and it's hills...stoppred off at Pisa (new place) and ended up in Milano for a few days.

it's hard b/c Milan just feels like home and we are so happy there. but Greece, Poland, Czech Republic, Norway and ireland are also calling our name............

*sigh* I need to be rich. or a travel writer. or a rich travel writer.

we love going to a new place, especially caribbean type places cuz there's so many beautiful islands.

I traveled a lot w/family growing up and when I studied abroad.

I have gone back to places and will continue to w/DH bc I loved them and know he will and want to see it WITH him

I studied in Italy for 6 months and have been there three other times bc I just love it. Always different cities, regions etc. w/some repetition.

I have been to Ireland twice, but will be going back soon bc DH wants to go.

Greece is numero uno on my have not been and MUST go.

I try to get to all new places just so i can see exactly what we like and have a chance later on down the road to just go to the places we loved!

As of now, we go to the same place every year, twice a year. But that's for two reasons, 1 because we have a timeshare and we really do love it there. And 2 we have two small DS and Florida is an easy direct trip right out of our local airport. As they get older I would like to start trying new places, but I know we will probably be in Florida a lot anyway. We also have a timeshare in Mexico but we haven't been since having the kids. I know that will be another recurring trip for us.

I prefer new places. I love to travel. No matter how many places I go, my travel list grows. Even if it's the same country, I want to visit different cities and towns or at minimum, a different hotel.

DH is the opposite. He feels he has traveled enough and likes to go to the same places.

Before kids - new place every time.

Post kids - there's something to be said for knowing what to expect . I actually just spent the last hour looking up vacation rentals in York Beach ME for this summer... where we went last summer.

One day we'll travel with abandon again. If you can, I say DO IT! Explore, find new places (virtually) every vacation.

There are a lot of places we still haven't seen together - I say together because DH has been just about everywhere! So, once we cross off more places and see them I'll def feel better about returning to a place. We visit some really nice places and we love the places we stay -- so, I think we would revisit if it was something we LOVED... like Excellence Playa Mujeres in Mexico for example, just gorgeous!

We try to visit new places, though we have done Las Vegas 3 times. Everytime we go, it's like a new place though!

I prefer new places. It's hard not to go to places you've been and loved though, but I want to love new places too!

I was just talking about this with someone. I tend to keep revisiting and then I realize that I would rather have put the money towards places that I haven't been.

it depends...

we rent a house in Ocean City NJ for a week every summer w/ my sister/mom & aunt. Its great bc we know it is ALWAYS a great time, it is relatively cheap. great family vacation.

but for "other" trips, I like to try new places. so I do a little of both.
