Ridiculous in the grand scheme of things, but...

I got a comorter set and sheets that I registered for. I washed the sheets before using them and they came out of the washer looking HORRIBLE. They're faded, threads hanging and look like I've had them for 10 years already. They were washed according to the directions so it's not that I did something wrong.

Should I try to return them to Linnens and Things or do you think I"ll have no luck?

I'm really annoyed especially since one of my girlfriends was so generous and purchased them for us, they weren't cheap.
