Unfortunately I know exactly
how you feel. Sadly we put out dog to
sleep Monday. It was the best choice
for him. Hope with time your sadness
subside. So sorry for you loss.

Thanks for everyone's kind words. With how he was progressing in his last few days, it was definitely the right decision. Every day is getting a little easier. We're going to take a break from pets for a little while. We definitely want more, but we need a little time without them right now. (DC make more of a mess in the house than a pack of puppies, and they often listen as well as a pack of puppies, too....  .... gotta keep a little lightness in here...  )
I put a bunch of pics of Darwin over the years on a memory stick, and those are the only photos being displayed on my digital photo frame on the mantel right now. It's my little way of making a memorial for him, at least for a while.
Even though I am technically without a pet, I'll still be popping in. I don't consider myself "petless", just in-between pets for a while....
