Robert Moses - which field
I haven't been to Robert Moses beach in YEARS. Which field does everyone go to? What are the differences? (Mommy beach, teanager beach, "look-at-me, aren't I hot beach", etc.)
I don't plan on going right away (especially with the bacteria warnings right now), but since I haven't been there in so long, I'm a bit clueless as to which field to go to.

Re: Robert Moses - which field
I read that Robert Moses was not one of the beaches affected by the bacteria - it is more for areas where the water is calmer.
I don't even know which field we go to, but love RM so much more than Jones Beach, we drive the extra distance.

Re: Robert Moses - which field
Thanks for your responses! I asked someone at work and they said 2 is good, but closer to the golf course. They said it's not as crowded down at that end.

Re: Robert Moses - which field
I always go to field 2, the very far end because field 5 fills up so quickly.

Re: Robert Moses - which field
I worked there for many many years and I havent been back since my last day there I miss it so much!
Field 2 is teens, Field 5 is Family- has the playground and it has the lighthouse, walk to Kismet, but also has the nude beach (where you walk through to get to fire island). If you go down by the nude beach, you can bring your dog- past light house is federal (or something?) property where dog's are allowed- but there are also no lifeguards there.
Field 3 is very quiet, its where the older people go, but its also where occasionally you get some rowdy people b.c its where the bus lets off. For the most part though, its fairly quiet, but also a small lot so it will close quickly.
Field 4 opens on the weekends and during the week when field 5 closes, its a overflow beach.
If you are coming from Long Island, try to get there before 10, 1030 to not get stuck in traffic. Occasionally field 5 will even close before 930 am so if you want all those ammenities, get there as early as possible or park in Field 4 and walk down.
