Rome Itinerary
Please help if you have been to Rome - we are stopping there for only 1 day on a Cruise. We have booked transportation to/from the cruise port and will have about 7 hours to see the city.
Do you think this is doable?
9:00 am Arrive at Colleseum Tour colleseum, Roman Forum and possibly Panthenon Lunch before or after Panthenon (leisurely lunch, at least 1 hour) Trevi Fountain Spanish Steps Leave Rome at 4 pm
Please let me know, we want to see a few sites since we only have 1 day but I don't want to cram too much in that the day becomes unenjoyable. That is why we are skipping the Vatican - it seems like that would be a complete day trip on its own?

Re: Rome Itinerary
the trevi ft. and spanish steps you can do quickly...get a few pics, etc....the colosseum you can do on your own or take a tour or they have those "radio guides" that you can rent and tour listening to them...the panthenon is quick too.........i think you will be very busy that day but could probably see each thing.....the only thing is you may really not be able to fully appreciate the atmosphere at each site.....but you can always go back again one day! .....i would suggest grabbing lunch to go..something quick and eating by the spanish steps or panthenon...so maybe u will get more of a feel for them.....def. get gelato -you can even eat that by one of the sites to enjoy it...i know there are a few gelato places right near the trevi! ...yum!

Re: Rome Itinerary
The Pantheon, Trevi fountain & spanish steps can be done in an hour. The other two can be seen as quickly or as in depth as you want so I think all of it is very doable. If you're touring w/a company you'll skip the cols. lines, if not take some extra time into consideration. The Vatican/Basilica I think is definitely too much to add and you would miss so much just rushing through. It's also pretty far from all the sites you mentioned. Have a great time!

Re: Rome Itinerary
I have been to rome twice and will be returning on a cruise in september as well.
your itinerary is definitely doable. we are going to be catching a hop on hop off bus to drive us to all the main sites (pretty much all you listed) and we will get off to see the coliseum and probably just the exterior of the vatican. i have done the hop on hop off bus before and if you don't get off it takes like 90 minutes - 2 hours. i think its about $20.00. last time we caught the bus by the termini train station and that might be what we do this time as well although you can catch it at any of the sites and pay.
after the bus we plan on eating lunch and there will probably be some shopping (there are 7 of us going).
enjoy your trip!!!

Oh now this is a possible idea, we did this in London and really enjoyed being able to see a bunch of sites. Maybe this is a good compromise - to see the outside of the vatican since we don't have time to do the rest...
Thanks for the suggestion!
