Re: ROSH HASHANAH

We are making Tzimmes, potato kugel and honey cake.
I know there will be ALOT more, it's the traditional Rosh Hashanah menu.

Re: ROSH HASHANAH

Not to crash... but I am not Jewish and have always been curious about the foods eaten on Rosh Hashanah. What is the significance of the honey and other things that are eaten?

Not to crash... but I am not Jewish and have always been curious about the foods eaten on Rosh Hashanah. What is the significance of the honey and other things that are eaten?

the significance of dipping apples in honey (or eating other honey products) is symbolic of wishing for a sweet new year.

you can read more about it here

I was going to say the same thing -- a "sweet" new year. I'm going to make baked apples for dessert tonight, and maybe some apples and honey as a snack tonight or tomorrow.

right now we're having sweet wine Chat Icon
