Rotating shifts
What does that mean when a hospital posts a job and the shift is rotating? I obviously know that you rotate but do you rotate days and nights all week long or do you rotate all days one week and all nights another? Thanks!

Re: Rotating shifts
My friend is a nurse and always works nights, but has rotating shifts meaning different days every week. Not sure if every hospital is like this. I think most of the hospitals here have night differentials for pay so they don't have a hard time filling the night shifts since they pay more.

Re: Rotating shifts
When my dad was SCPD and was on rotating shifts it meant he worked something like this:
8-4 Monday-Wednesday OFF - Thursday-Saturday
4-12am Sunday-Tuesday OFF - Wednesday-Friday
12am-8am Saturday-Monday OFF - Tuesday-Thursday
ETC, ETC.

Re: Rotating shifts
My dad worked fot con ed and his rotating shifts went like this:
3 days of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. 2 days off 3 days of 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. 2 days off 3 days of 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. 2 days off REPEAT ABOVE ...
It affected not only the times of day he worked but what days he worked and was off. He was always sleeping or working when I was a kid.
