Rotavirus...(kinda tmi)

Well, we took Emily to the doctor yesterday and she said that she feels like the virus that we all had was probably the rotavirus, because of how severe it seemed. She said that the only sign that Emily shows of being dehydrated is dry lips, but that otherwise she looks OK, so she wasn't too concerned about dehydration.

But it's still a struggle to get her to want to drink anything. We were doing pedialyte but now she won't take that anymore, the doc recommended rice milk and she's refusing that completely, won't even go near it.

I have to go back to work today and so my FIL will be watching her and I'm so afraid that she's going to refuse to drink for him, and get dehydrated.

She's still refusing solids. She maybe had 2 bites of a cracker yesterday. When can I start trying some regular milk again? I know she'll drink that, and I'd have peace of mind knowing that it has some solids in it too, but I don't want to make her diarrhea worse. As of yesterday she was still having diarrhea -- about 5 times yesterday, andi t's not as bad, it doesn't leak out of her diapers as much, but it's still very runny.

I wish my principal wasn't such a ****** and I could just take another day to stay home with her.

Aww, at least she is with her grandpa (even if it isn't you, at lest it is family)

I was there last week-It was rough...

He had the rotovirus from Sat- Thursday of last week.... He didnt have milk at all until that Friday night- The only thing he would drink was water...

And it wasnt until this Tue/Wed that he got his appetite back- and he still isnt drinking as much as usual....

He was showing major signs of dehydration towards the end... I left work that Thursday planning on taking him straight to the ER- but from the previous night til that afternoon he had made SOOOO much progress!!!

The rotovirus is sooo scary esp. when they are young, You just gotta keep her hydrated anyway you can- Its great she is drinking the pedialyte- RJ hates that stuff!
