Rough Night.........
So last night Christopher was so fussy. I think he was so gassy...he would not go to bed. I was up with him from 9pm-2am.....doing everything...gave him maalox and still. He finally went to sleep at 3am.
i dont know what it is. He is fine during the day and at night he gets fussy. The past 3 nights were GREAT until last night. They changed his formula to the Gentlease....if it was the formula...do you think he would be fussy all day and not just at night?? The PED checked his stool sample and said there was nothing medically wrong

Re: Rough Night.........
Maybe he needs ambient noise? I know my boys like to have music playing in the nursery... i just turn it on low and it seems to be enough to keep them calm. I am sorry it was such a rough night.

Re: Rough Night.........
Been there....sometimes i just let the fussy one sleep on my chest while i get some shut eye....i know not the safest thing to do...but it calms my boys. White noise (a TV, music mobile) might work too. Also try and keep him up as much as possible during the day....and when all else fails i let them cry themselves to sleep. Not much more i can do.

Re: Rough Night.........
Talk to your doctor about feeding the baby some diluted fennel tea before and after feeding. Fennel is a time honored and safe herb that enables the baby to release gas and promotes bowel movements easily. Help eliminate the gas in baby's intestines. I know a mom who did this with her gassy baby and she said it worked. I also read that it's a safe way to eliminate the gas and soothe the baby...also the baby might have reflux in that case you might need something stronger then the Malox..just some suggestions.

Re: Rough Night.........
I will ask about the tea. She switched his formula to Similac Alimentum...we will see if that helps. He is NOT spitting up, so I dont think it is reflux

Re: Rough Night.........
I might of said this before but when my girls came home they cried a lot and I would switch the formula a lot..I finally ended up with the Enfamil Lacto Free. But I really don't believe it was the formula. I think Newborns bellies and digestive tracks are underdeveloped which causes the colic and once the belly get developed they suddenly become a different child. It's frustrating especially with twins but you might have to ride it out...which I'm sure you don't want to hear.
