Is this a water sono? If so, I have heard it hurts less than the hsg if that helps

Re: RP kinda- Anyone ever have a hysteroscopy?
I had one. I also had a laparoscopy (though the belly button), D and C and a tubal lavage (which I assume is the same as an HSG) at the same time. I was under a general anesthetic so I didn't feel it. After the procedures, there was a little bit of discomfort at the incisions which were only about a centimeter in length. I had already had laparoscopic surgery before so it was pretty easy to deal with.

I had a Hysteroscopy and D&C about two weeks ago. You are under general anesthesia so feel nothing during the procedure. After, I was told to take it easy for a few days and I really had no pain or discomfort from the surgery at all. Some light bleeding for about six days, though.

An HSG is when they inject dye into your uterus so that they can see the basic shape of your uterus and whether or not your tubes are clear. There is no anesthesia for this - some people have no discomfort, some find it very uncomfortable. I had no problem with it.
A Water Sono is when they inject water into the uterus and look at it through a sonogram to see if anything looks out of the ordinary in the uterus.
And the Hysteroscopy is when they go in with a camera to see exactly what the uterus looks like so they can make sure there are no problems.

Re: RP kinda- Anyone ever have a hysteroscopy?
I had an HSG and wasn't under any anesthesia. They did it in the hospital. I had one quick pain and then that was it.
Some women have had a lot of pain and some women have had very little. I was lucky to have had very little.
Either way, it's a good idea to take Advil before the procedure. About an hour before take 2 and then about half hour before take 2.
Good luck!

Re: RP kinda- Anyone ever have a hysteroscopy?
I had a hysteroscopy done. You are under anesthesia so you are not awake during the procedure. I was given some IV pain medication foloowing the procedure which caused me to feel nauseous for two days but other than that, I just had some mild discomfort.

The doctor didnt tell me I would be put under, he didnt even say what it was or tell me if I should do anything to prep for it...Is that normal?

I had this procedure done too, the incision sites were small and a little sore for a little while after.

At SIRM in Dallas, I had a hysteroscopy and I wasn't under anesthia!!!!!! It hurt like a mother-father. It was by far more painful than my HSG.

Re: RP kinda- Anyone ever have a hysteroscopy?
I had a hysteroscopy, and an HSG (at two different times)
I was not under any anesthesia, and I didn't think it was that painful.
Good luck!
