runners - back pain.... help - Update!

about 1/2 way through my runs my lower back starts to hurt. If I keep my head down it doesnt hurt asbadbut i know it is not to run with your head down.

Any suggestions on excercises Ican do to strenghten my back?

So I have come tothe conclusion that my sneakers are the problem. I was running in nike moto with no issues but then switched to the nike pegasus and i guess the pegusus are not good for my feet.I put back on my motos today & I had NO back pains at all & no shin splints which I was also getting with wearing the pegasus. My form was SO much better & my pace was alnmost 1 minute faster.

I guess itreally isall about wearing the right sneakers!

Re: runners - back pain.... help!

Hmm, it could be a muscle tear or something more serious. Do you have any pain down your leg?

Also I run with my head down, not all the way down but just leaning forward, if that makes sense. I have read its better to do that the straight up with your head back.

A good stretch is, lay on your back with one knee bent and your other leg bent with knee pointing out and ankle leaning on bent knee (google for better descrpition)

Lay on back with one leg straight and one leg straigh up but cross it over your body.

Re: runners - back pain.... help!

Thanks. NoI dont have any pains in my legs. I thought you were supposed to keep yourhead upChat Icon no I am confused. When I havemy head down it is not all the way downeither, its just that I amlooking at the ground in front of me instead of having my head all the way back.....

Maybe me trying to hold my head up to high iswhat is causing the back pains....

I am going try googling head position while running & see what comes up.
