Runners can I train for a 1/2 marathon in 5 weeks
I was planning on doing the LI 1/2 but found out today I willl be unable to for medical reasons. I can do the Selden 1/2 on March 29th. I have been following the Hal Higdon training program. I am running 3, 4, 5 miles and strength training with a trainer 3x a week. I have run 2 10ks but that was last year. Can I do it? I am a weak runner.

Maybe if you incorporate galloways method of taking walk breaks.
Also, some trainers say if your goal is a half (13 miles) then your longest run should be 16-18 miles so you won't hit the wall the day of.
Other trainers say that with the half being 13 miles, then if your longest run was 9, you should be fine.

Honestly, I really wouldn't and only because you are saying you are weak runner. Also, it doesn't sound you like you are doing enough mileage. I would think 8 weeks is the minimum amount of time needed to train for a 1/2 but I could be wrong.
There are a couple of 10 miler tune ups before the 1/2. Maybe you'd be interested in one of those?
