Runners--how do you prevent your thighs from getting too big?
I've noticed as I'm running more and more, my butt is getting shaply (it was flat before) and my thighs are getting more muscular. I'm all for getting muscular, but my thighs are already big, and I was hoping to trim them down, not bulk them up. I run on a 0.5 incline, but on the other days when I don't run I walk the treadmill on a steep incline or do the elliptical.
Any tips for trimming down thighs while still doing cardio?

Unfortunately it's mostly genetics. You could try incorporating some pilates or yoga, as they are supposed to build long, lean muscles.

I have pretty muscular thighs, but honestly I dont mind it. It can be annoying to find good jeans that fit though. I used to hate my thighs, but then I realized stick thin legs aren't very attractive. I've learned to love my thighs. I would keep running and enjoy it

I don't think that a .5 incline would make too much of a difference, but hills do strengthen leg muscles. maybe you want to try a month on 0 and see if you can see a difference?

On my off days I walk at an incline of 4 or 5. Maybe I shouldn't do that?

That's not really THAT high that it would bulk you up.
And continue to run at .5, it's so much better for your joints that running flat, and makes it easier to transfer to running outside if you wanted to.

I also vote for yoga or pilates once a week. You'll really stretch out those muscles. It's an excellent compliment to running.
