Russian Adoption: please help!
Hi everyone. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law are in the process of adopting a beautiful baby boy from Russia. They were waiting for years and things were looking up when they made their first of three trips to Russia and fell in love with their baby boy. Unfortunately, the Russian government is trying to pass a law that would ban US citizens from adopting Russian children, taking effect this January 1st. Needless to say, this would have a huge impact on not only my family (since my little nephew is still in Russia) but countless others and most importantly be detrimental to so many children who are looking for their forever families.
Sasha D'Jamoos is a young Russian adoptee with special needs who just yesterday started Voice of the Child, a campaign to encourage the continuation of adoptions between Russia and the United States. As part of his campaign, Sasha has published a letter and petition which he will personally deliver to the Russian Embassy in Washington DC on Wednesday, December 26th.
Here is a link to the petition if you could please sign and share with as many people as possible. Thank you so much for your support.

Russian Adoption: please help!
My heart goes out to your family. We adopted our son from Moscow, Russia in 2005. I will never forget the other babies in his group, we wanted to take them all.
Im re posting the link on my facebook page.

Re: Russian Adoption: please help!
I heard this morning that Russia signed the law, effectively immediately. If it can be of any help to your family, please tell them my DH's story: his younger son (my SS) was adopted from Russia. While they were in the process of adopting (had already been there, had fallen in love with their son and were just waiting for final approval), the same thing happened (this was about 12 years ago). Luckily for them, the ban was lifted after only a couple of weeks. I hope the same thing happens this time, for your family and the thousands of others that I'm sure are in a similar situation.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. We are all praying that we'll be able to bring my nephew home eventually. The Russian government is shut down until 1/8 so we won't have any new updates until after that date.
Thank you again.

This is such a horrible law from them to pass because of a few isolated incidents which could have happened in any country. On a positive note, I really don't see this lasting. There are too many adoption groups out there for this to be permanent.
