Ryan James 8~16~08

Ryan James was born on 8-16-08 at 11:52 pm. He weighed 6lbs 6oz, 19.5 inches and was 3 weeks early.

My water broke Saturday morning at 4:47a.m I went to the bathroom and came back to bed to feel a little water trickle out. i jumped out of bed and more kept coming. I called my doctor, who happened to be away for the night, so another doc on call said for me to come to the hospital. I had no contractions at the time so i jumped in the shower and then headed to the hospital.
When i got to the hospital water was still trickling out and i was only 1cm dilated. they admitted me into Labor and Delivery after about 1.5 hours. I did not have contractions so they induced me with Pitocin around 10am. Then the contractions started to come on stronger. After some time i got the epidural and i couldnt feel the contractions anymore By 7oclock i was only 4 or 5 centimeters and the contractions were starting to hurt. they gave me some stronger meds in the epidural and i felt a little better.

By 10 pm i was getting the urge to push so the nurses called the doctor in. I started to push but really wasnt getting anywhere. I think she said the baby had trouble getting over the pelvic tilt and it was really hard to hold my breath and push for so long. She saw it was really going nowhere and i said i didnt mind having the c-sect if that is what needed to be done. I tried to push for 2 more tries but nothing so i was sent for the c-sect.

By 11:00pm i was in the c-sect room, shaking uncontrolleable, prob b/c of the meds and because i was soooo nervous to be awake for the operation. I asked the doc to put on music so they put on a motown CD and my amazing DH held my ears so i wouldnt hear anything.
Ryan James was born at 11:52pm that night.

After he was born I was taken into recovery and had the worst pain ever. they finally gave me meds which took a while to kick in. the hospital was overcrowded..50 babies in the baby room... so i had to stay in the recovery room over night and didnt get a room unitl 10am the next morning. I was very very lucky to get my own room b/c that was the next available room and C-sects were sent up to room before the vaginal births.

overall, i think this was the most amazing experience of my life. Ryan is the most amazing baby in the world and i couldnt even imagine how in love and how amazing being a mom could be.

Congratulations!!!!! We are naming our baby Ryan also!!! I love that name!!!
