Sabrina is thinking outside the box
So I need to brag a bit. I have known for a while that Sabrina is bright but up until last week, I just thought I had a cute little parrot who would repeat the words I was teaching her.
Then last week while I was going through a little routine we have, I decided to reverse the questions. Instead of saying "who calls you beautiful? Answer: Mama. I switched it and asked What does Mommy call you? Answer: Beautiful! I didn't give her the answer, she told me!
Then last night on the way home from Grandma and Grandpa's (I had grad class and DH had to work late so DD ate with them), I asked Sabrina what she had for dinner. I didn't expect an answer but she told me BEANS. So I asked what else. She screamed 'RONI. I prodded for more and she said CHICKEN.
Today I decided to see if I could get her to enunciate the words I LOVE YOU. Up until now, she has said something that sounds like "uh-ladaladal" whenever we say I love you. Today, I was practicing with her in the car and I asked her to say it one more time and she said...I LOVE...MAMA Then she did the same thing for DH tonight. She said I LOVE...DADA!!
I know that this could be regular 18th month development but it just seems like leaps and bounds from where she was last week. It's like she is not just repeating but she understands things and knows how to manipulate the words to go where she wants and she knows HOW they should be.
Okay, let me stop bragging before something bad happens and I jinxy myself.

DH tries some things in Polish and MIL has sent some Polish children's books so that DH can read them to her. I am not sure how much she understands but she does hear DH speak it. How about you?
