sad

Last week I had a m/c and d/c because my dr said it could take more than a month for my body to realize what was going on and my heart just couldnt take that. I am so sad and dont feel like this feeling will ever get better. I'm scared to try again and really have no idea when it would be safe to try again. I have no clue when AF is supposed to return and wonder if it would be best to wait or try again right away. Just looking for advice or hope.

Re: sad

Im sorry you are going through this Chat Icon

I had 2 losses and 2 d&cs. Both times, per dr's orders, I waited 2 cycles to try again. You should get AF 4-6 weeks after the d&c. Mine came 5 weeks after each one.

The feeling of sadness eventually gets less. I cant say it ever goes away though. For me, initially, I was sad all the time. As more time passed, I felt better but then Id have days where I would just cry again. Even when you have a successful pregnancy, you never forget what you lost Chat Icon

I dont know your history but as far as hope goes, DONT LOSE IT!!! Both my losses were missed m/c (babies had HBs then died) after the 2nd one, I thought there was no hope for me. I was treated by an RE for immune issues and , it wasnt easy, but here I am now almost 19 weeks pregnant.

Take the time now to grieve. You will be surprised how strong you are. Once you get AF you will start to feel "normal" again and I bet it wont be long after that that you will want to try again.

Good luck!! Chat Icon

Re: sad

I'm so sorry for your loss...I too chose to not wait for it all to happen naturally, and I was happy with my choice. It was time for me to try to move on.

AF arrives differently for everyone. That's what I found the hardest. There was no real answers....but this board is amazing for support.

Post whatever you are feeling, I am sure most everyone on here has felt the same thing... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

You will probably get AF 4-6 wks after the D&C. Most Dr's say to wait 1 or 2 cycles before trying again. It is scary, but every day you will start to heal a little more and become hopeful again.

Just remember, next time you have an 80% chance of having a healthy pregnancy!!!

I had 2 losses and now 20 wks pregnant. IT will happen, sometimes we just have these bumps in the road before getting to our goal!!

Most doctors say to wait at least one cycle and some say to wait even more than that. I have always heard better success coming from those who waited at least 2 cycles. JMO. Your heart will get less heavy over time.

Re: sad

Awww im so sorry & totally understand. Aunt Flo should arrive 4 weeks from the procedure date. After that you should have an appointment to make sure everything looks good there & then you can begin trying again. But if you feel you need time take it. I did. I MCd in Dec. 09 2 days before xmas was my D/C We just decided to start trying again.

Re: sad

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm 5 weeks post D & C and still no AF for me. My doctor told my DH and I that we can do "whatever, whenever" at my post-op visit. Good luck to you and your DH. Like the other ladies said. We're here if you need to let something off your chest. It is a devastating time, but it is a temporary time and we will all heal.
