Sallie Mae!
Being that I have had it up to here with Sallie Mae and their ridiculous business practices (billing issues)......
I have decided to pay my loan off in full using my credit card so at least I can get miles out of it, and pay my cc bill from my savings.....
So I call Sallie freakin' Mae and after 3 people telling me I can't pay by credit card, the supervisor says that not only do they charge me $10 for using a credit card over the phone, but I can only make 1 month's payment with it!!!!!!!
So, being that they do not take credit cards online, they think they're gonna screw me......
BUT!!!!!
I am calling my cc company and having them mail me 1 of those checks I always throw out and paying with that!!!! 
I think I hate Sallie Mae as much as I hate AT&T.......

be prepared to be on top of managing your loans and when they are due.
They don't send paper bills and their email reminders are late sometimes.
And they contact any cosigners as soon as you're late.
I really hate them

Your post reminded me to check the status of my internship deferment, and wouldn't you know? They have no record of the paperwork! Would not have been a big deal if my loans were not currently due and I was not 5 states away from my parent's house, where my copy of the paperwork is. So now I have to go bug the chairperson of my department again and go fax back and forth. Too bad she will not be in until next week. I was on the phone w/ them hysterical...where is their call center now anyway?
Oh man, where can I go to have someone else service my loans? They were not like this years ago!

Agreed!! I am a cosigner and they gave the borrower all sorts of incorrect info (required paperwork for me to complete) and it turned out she did not need to submit any of it.

This post reminded me to check on her payment. 
She paid the May 20 payment on May 22 She is always late but it's paid up through July 20. I sent in a payment and had her reimburse me  Apparently she never calls to check though since she has still not figured out that she is a month ahead in making her ALWAYS late payments

my rate is 7.75%. not so low......and the call center is in India.......shocker!

HP too. I spoke with at least 7 reps in India and did at least 30 hours of trouble shooting before getting my new scanner through a rep in Idaho. She admitted that the staff in India will not escalate a call to them until they exhaust all options (and the customers patience)
I have to admit, I don't even know the rate for Sallie Mae for the loan I cosigned

I think I will have them do the auto deduct for my payments once they become due. After hearing this I do not trust that my bills will arrive or that they will post my payments on time.
I am so glad this was posted. I had a frustrating experiece w/ them once before, but nothing like what happened today. I really wish I did not have to deal w/ them, but DH has his serviced through another company and had a similar experience. They would not send a bill, and then apply his payments incorrectly and apply late fees.

Call your credit card company back and see if you have if you have any balance transfer checks. If you get convenience checks, they will be treated as cash and have a ridicoulous apr. as for sallie mae and there billing issues, i heard of drama but when i had sallie mae and just knowing your payment is suppose to be due, you need to take action and make sure payments are made (i did ours online)
back to the checks, when you get the check, call sallie mae and get a payoff balance for 10 days. students loans (all loans) accumalte intrest daily so you need to pay more then what your balance is.
back to sallie mae, if your cc is sending you cash checks and your student loan is 8 percent or less, you need to keep that balance there as if you pay 22% for something that was at 5%, the value of your loan will increase as you have to pay more intrest and on top of that, when you pay your credit card, you pay the lowest intrest rate balance on the account so the high intreset rates would sit there collecting intrest
FM if you would like more help with this as I use to work for Chase CC and find more send very informatioal in this department. I would hate to see you pay more when you could pay less

In all honesty, I have NO IDEA what you just wrote about the checks!!!!
I did however, call my cc company and being that the check will not count as points, I am going to write a check straight from my checking account and be done with it.

I guess I am in the minority, I've had no problems with them. I would get statements from them constantly and was sure to not enroll in anything that involved on line notice.
They have an office in PA where all their mail goes too so their has to be people in that office that do some type of payments. Whenever I had to call them I always got someone who was willing to help.
Right now I have automatic deduction set up out of a seperate account that is just for my student loan.

Their corporate offic is in CA, and the India call center is suppose to be shut down and keeping everything based in Houston.
Thats what my IT guy told me

Just an FYI - I don't think you get the cc points when you transfer a balance - I SOO tried that but it didn't work!
