Salt Water Filter Vs Chlorine
Hi can someone tell me the pros and cons of a Salt Water filer vs a Chlorine Filter for a pool? We aren’t sure what route to go with our pool. What are the benefits of a salt water filter besides better for your hair and skin? Is it worth upgrading to Salt or just sticking with chlorine? Thanks!

Re: Salt Water Filter Vs Chlorine
We changed to salt water and LOVE it. It's expensive to change over, but in the long run and maintaining the pool it's cheaper than chlorine. So much better for you too! Like you said already... better for skin and eyes. You don't have that strong smell on you after too and when using chlorine you have to be careful bc it could stain. I'm no expert though. LOL My DH did a lot of research and changed the system over himself.

Re: Salt Water Filter Vs Chlorine
I hear salt water is great but if you don't want to go for the expense, we have a mineral purifier. It uses 80% less chlorine so you never ever smell chlorine and it doesn't sting your eyes, dry out your skin or bleach your swimsuits.
It's basically like a big Brita filter for the pool. You still use chlorine but 80% less. And I rarely have to ever shock or add any other chemicals to be honest. It's always clear.
If I was building a new pool now though I'd probably do salt if I could swing it.

We have salt water and the maintenance is so much easier. Once you get the salt level correct, there is virtually nothing else involved. No weekly chemicals. It is expensive to do the initial switch over, but worth it.

My parents constantly struggled to keep their pool remotely clear. It was such a pita. They switched to salt water and it's been crystal clear all summer every year since.

Totally agree. I LOVE having salt, because I hate the chlorine smell.
