salumi in massapequa

Finally had the chance to check out Salumi in massapequa on Saturday night. I was really excited to try it 'cause I LOVE tapas.. and I wasn't disappointed.

The restaurant is on Merrick Rd. across from Best Yet (in same shopping ctr as Broadway Dance). They serve Spanish Tapas.

I think for the atmosphere (think East Village) and food, they are very reasonably priced. AND they bake their own bread (worth the visit alone).

We basically ate through the menu:

French Cheese Board (duck confit, assorted cheeses, cherry jam)
Spanish Cheese Board (chorizo, sliced ham, manchego, marcona almonds, etc.)
Polenta with Truffled mushrooms (so good we got two orders)
Patatas (fried potato goodness)
cold mussles w/ bread (i hate cold mussels but LOVED these)
Short ribs w/ some type of bean (mmm)
Chicken Empanadas
Walnut Pesto (soooo good- and on their homemade bread)
some type of bacon dish (hunks of braised bacon on top of very grainy mustard)

I don't have a bad thing to say about what we tried- and I'm still thinking about the polenta and the delicious duck confit and bread!

For the wine try the Vinho Verde- YUMM!

Re: salumi in massapequa

you have to go- sooo good.. and really affordable.. I think we had like 10 different dishes, 2 big cheese boards, 3 bottles of wine and 3 mixed drinks and the bill with tip for the 6 of us was $45 a person?
