Santa Monica
Has anyone been there? Can you please tell me a bit about it? I may be going there with my 8 month old daughter (DH will be there for a business trip) and I'd like to know most importantly if most things are in walking distance from each other. Thanks!!!!!!

Re: Santa Monica
There's plenty to do that's within walking distance. There's the beach & pier plus the 3rd street promenade which has restaurants & shopping. Not sure if you have a hotel booked yet but fairmont miramar is one of my favorite hotels.

Re: Santa Monica
We just got back from Santa Monica and absolutely loved it. There is a ton to do within walking distance. We stayed at the Loews and thought it was beautiful, but a little pricey.

Re: Santa Monica
You can keep pretty busy with the beach, the pier and the prominade. You could taxi over to Beverly Hills if you were really bored. It might be expensive though. I would stay away from the Chinese Theatre and those other touristy places though with an 8-month old.

Re: Santa Monica
I love Santa Monica, but can't recommend a place to stay, since I stayed with friends.
The pier and the promenade are fun, but the beach is great by itself. Venice Beach is also pretty interesting, with a lot of locals. thye do sand sculptures and there are outdoor vendors and performers (and a psychic or two).
I agree that Hollywood Blvd. with an 8 month old is probably not a great idea. It can be pretty seedy in spots. Have a great trip!

Re: Santa Monica
One more question... Is 5 days too long to spend there? Thanks.

If you like the beach, I would say 5 days is not too long.
A little trivia - the opening scene in MASH (TV show) was filmed in front of the hills in Santa Monica.

Re: Santa Monica
I love Santa Monica!!! I defintely don't think 5 days is too much. I'd love to stay there and pretend I'm a local There really is alot to do the girls mentioned the promenade and the pier and there is an awesome walking/bike path that goes along the beach and stretches for miles, so lots of walking can be done. I know they rent bikes, so they might even have some with baby seats. Will you have a car? I know you said walking distance, but driving in LA isn't complelety aweful... but you won't be terribly far from Beverly Hills which would also be a fun place to walk around/ sight see. Just take Pico or Olympic straight up.
Have an amazing time!!!!
Here are a few pics I have on my computer.
