saving the sperm - TMI maybe? lol
The last time me & Dh BD'd was probably last Monday or Tuesday (ahem, not to conceive but rather just for the fun of it)
I'm on CD11 now and very likely to Ovulate within the week. DH really wants us to try JUST BDing on the actual O date (rather than just doing every other day). He feels like we'll have a better shot that way. So now he's trying to sustain until then.
Is that a good thing to do?? He wants to let it 'build up' so to speak for when we actually do BD for TTC purposes. Or will that backfire on us, and it will actually give him LESS to work with? He'll probably have only had to sustain maybe a little over a week.
What do ya think?

I really am of no help on this one. I hope that article can offer some advice. Personally I think a week isn't necessary. See if you can get him to agree on a couple of days as a compromise. Are there any male fertility issues? How old is DH? That may make a difference. In most cases I don't think it will. I think we are going to BD everyday next cycle when I am about to O (2-3 days before) & when I O, and the day after, and the day after that lol.

Thanks for that link.
No, he has no fertility problems at all. He's 29 and very healthy. There's no reason for him to want to abstain other than just for the sake of "building it up". I think he feels like if we 'waste' it now, then there won't be as much later when we really need it to count. I've just heard that abstaining can make the sperm count weaker though, but I guess that wouldn't matter if we just abstained one week.
And yeah, I might see if he'll want to try more than just that one day. We haven't really been 'trying' yet at all, just kinda relaxing & seeing what happens. So we're not used to timing these things at all. I think now that we decided to get serious this cycle tho, he's all nervous that we're going to do it 'wrong' somehow.

Aw. It is really cute that your DH doesn't want to mess it up. Your welcome for the link. Share it with DH, maybe it will help. Knowing that DH is young, w/o fertility problems I don't think it matters. I would just keep having fun, and defin BD when you think you are O. I think as long as you give it at least 24 hours in between you will be fine. My DH asked me if he is allowed to masturbate now that we are ttc They all contribute in their own way i guess.

ITA. I don't think he necessarily has to save up... and its much more fun if he doesn't!

Well....
When they ask you to give a sperm sample...they want the guy to withhold for 3-4 days only. More than that seems to effect the morphology/motility of the sperm.
While this seems ideal (withholding til a certain time). It's not so easy to be sure exactly when you ovulated.

If the reason he wants to hold out until when you're ovulating is because he wants to make sure he has enough - please let him know that his body creates MILLIONS of sperm every day. Yes, for men that have a sperm issue, it's recommended to abstain until ovulation as much as possible, but since he has no known issues, it's not necessary at all

yeah, a few days before is fine but too long can effect the troops! if there aren't any fertility problems (MF), then his counts can be just as high or even higher when you BD two days in a row.

Re: saving the sperm - TMI maybe? lol
My DH has made some similar comments about us TTC as well. As long as there is no problem with his sperm, then there should be no problem with BDing everyday you think you are close to ovulating. Get busy!!
