Saw Cloverfield last night...

I won't give anything away but I liked it - however, it could be very disturbing and def. reminded me somewhat of 9/11..there were a man and a woman sitting next to us and all of a sudden half way through the man got very upset and left, then his wife followed a minute after.

Special effects were amazing and it had a lot of scary moments.

Re: Saw Cloverfield last night...

I was afraid of that - I'm not into very scary movies to begin with but it just had an eerie 9/11 feel to me and that would make me VERY upset. Chat Icon

A couple of people in our theater left as well, but I think it was more because of the camera effects than the subject matter. Holy shaky camera!

The movie freaked me out at times, but I didn't find it suspensful.. From the beginning, you kind of get the sense of how it will end.

The camera shaking wasn't too terrible.

It was really short, though.

My daughter saw this yesterday and said it was the worst movie she had ever seen. She said it was a complete and total waste of time and money.

Re: Saw Cloverfield last night...

We saw it yesterday. DH was annoyed by all the shaky camera movements but overall we liked it. The special effects were pretty cool. ALthough I'm sure they got away with alot because it was 100% handy-cam shot.

Poor plot, cool movie. We liked it!

The 9/11 allusions were definately too much for me as well. We discussed that on the way home from the movie. I wonder if an non-NYer would have the same visceral experience seeing those scenes.

Other than that, I enjoyed it for what it was....a monster movie.
