What a fantastic idea. Wish I had a closet we didn't need. We have alcove windows in our bedroom (think that's what they are called) and when we re-do our bedroom, we are going to have a bench built in right under the window since my DH knows I love to read. Can't wait!

OMG thank you for posting!!! I have the perfect spot for this in what will be the babies playroom. There is a small unfinished closet in the room and I was trying to think of something cute to do with it!! PERFECT!!!

LOL My boys have a HUGE closet with barely anything in it at all. All their clothes are in their captains beds/dressers, books on their book shelf, toys in the toy box etc. What is the closet really needed for?

We have one of these in DS's room...it came with a book shelf in the closet and a little bench. But it is too long for a comfortable space, but we have a space in the playroom that I wanted for this exact thing

It would probably be really easy. You could put a vertical board to cut off the skinniest part of the triangle where the stairs meet the floor. You could even possibly put shelves in the area that is created between that vertical board and the stairs.. or just fill that in with a board.
Then build the bench with the storage underneath and put shelves on the vertical board that you put up that way they are putting their weight on the wall and not the board. It would be so cute.

I need MORE closest space in my home- not less!
I'll read my books on the couch for the rest of my life to gain every spare inch of closet space that I can!
