Saying goodbye to the swaddle
This is probably my biggest fear. I just can't picture my DC sleeping at all without it.
Please share with me how you did this? The things your tried, what worked, what didn't. And how long it took for your DC to adjust to sleeping minus being swaddled

Re: Saying goodbye to the swaddle
My DS was in the Miracle Blanket and was totally breaking out of it.
I then just did it cold turkey one night and put him into regular feetie pjs. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.....but then I realized - The Halo SleepSack. I wish I used that from day one. I love it - it's almost like a cozy blanket that they can wear. He will wear that as long as he can (and they run pretty big so I'm hoping it will be awhile)

Re: Saying goodbye to the swaddle
But I don't get it, what does the Halo do the helps? IMO it is his hands that i am scared of and they are free in the halo

Re: Saying goodbye to the swaddle
I would say it's a long weekend and I would attempt it. make sure DC is comfortable and try to 'shhh shh shh' him/her back to sleep and see how it goes. Your DC may surprise you and adjust better than mommy!!

I don't know why the halo works if the arms are free - lol - it just does!

We swaddle DS from his armpits down but he has always liked that.

Re: Saying goodbye to the swaddle
I am worrying about this already too...
DD loves swaddle, but you have to have her arms inside....
What am I gonna do when it's time for something like the Halo.... Ugh....

Re: Saying goodbye to the swaddle
We swaddled Caden until we just simply couldnt squeeze him into the darn thing any longer...This was only a couple of weeks ago. (If you knew Caden you'd know how silly this is b/c he is just so BIG he looked comical) But he just loved to be swaddled. He's still adjusting to it...he's all hands, but little by little he's getting used to it.

Re: Saying goodbye to the swaddle
I'm dreading this also. There is no way this kid is going to sleep the 10 hours she usually does with out her swaddle.
I really don't want to even try!

Re: Saying goodbye to the swaddle
How old is your DC? We swaddled DD till she was 5 months old (with the Miracle Blanket - freakin best invention ever!). We transitioned her by swaddling just her body at first and then one night just went without it (used the sleep sack).
Good luck!

Re: Saying goodbye to the swaddle
Once DD started breaking out of her swaddle, we stopped. It was fine. She didn't need it after that. Good luck!

Re: Saying goodbye to the swaddle
DD was in the miracle blanket until 4 months when she kept breaking out. I then transferred her to the Halo SleepSack & she was fine from that first night.

Re: Saying goodbye to the swaddle
DD was in the miracle blanket until 6 months She LOVED it and I LOVED it. It was totally a "miracle"
Anyway we did it cold turkey over a long weekend. We put her right into the sleepsack. It was a long few nights, but it was temporary.
Good luck

Re: Saying goodbye to the swaddle
We put DD in the Sleepsac and then use the miracle blanket and just swaddle her arms. We use the sleepsac like an extended miracle blanket since she is supe long and wasen't fitting in the pocket.

Re: Saying goodbye to the swaddle
I never thought DD would EVER be able to sleep without the swaddle- but she was starting to roll while wearing it, so we had to stop. And like you, I totally thought there was NO WAY she'd sleep with her arms out.
The first night was somewhat difficult- but after that she was fine.
I also recommend the sleep sack. I guess it works because it kind of mimics the feeling of being enclosed without the arms drawn in.
