Saying Mama or Dada

When did your DC start saying mama or dada? And which one did they say first?

I think mine started saying it around 8 months, however he says it to the cat, to cars driving by, to anything really. I don't think they make the association until they are much older! Noah is almost 1 and he says Mama & Dadum, sometimes it seems he is clearly saying it to myself or his dad...however I don't believe he says it on purpose!

Re: Saying Mama or Dada

Ava started about a month and a half ago with Dada, then like two weeks later with Mama. No association, though.

Dada about 6 months or so with no association. Mama was 8 months or so. (I really wish this website was going back then so I could llook it up)

First association was 10 months - ball.

dada came first around 8-9 months - sound not association. mama came around 10 months. Took a long time before he would call either of us as mama or dada even though he knew who was who and the words. He isn't much of a talker.

Re: Saying Mama or Dada

7 1/2 months or so was dada, mama came about a month after.
I think association started around 8 1/2, 9 months becuase that is when she started using it appropriately. Right about then she also started saying Kit Kat when she saw the cat.

He started saying DaDa at around 7 months. He said mama once about a week ago and has not said it again since. He just loves babbling dada on end. I am patiently waiting for mama.!!
