scariest thing happened...
My DD somehow got her body past the safety gate to the stairs or so I thought. I saw her do it later and she would actually fit her body through the side of the stairway (it's a half wall on one side and full on the other). I was shocked. I put a gate at the top of the stairs for safety and kept the bottom one off since I was with her. She went up 5 steps (with me watching) and started to come down on her bottom.
Well, she slipped and flipped and hit her head on two steps. I screamed and caught her in mid air. I thought she might have broken her foot or got a concussion.
She is okay, but I feel horrible that I caused this. 
To prevent this from happening in the future, I wrapped the side of the stairs with the breathable bumpers and she seems to stay away from it. For now.

I am sorry she got hurt. Thomas hit his head at Stride Rite with me standing right there... It's so hard...

Oh my goodness how scary! I am so glad you happeend to be there and see her do this! Good idea with the breathable bumper... I will have to keep that in mind! I am glad your DD is OK!!!

YOU DID NOT CAUSE THIS. She is too quick & smart and can figure out gates. Sounds like you learned it right on time.

hey Sue, funny you mention this, I just caught DD trying to squeeze inbetween the gate and the post of the stairs!!! I said eh eh you can get a boo boo and she stopped. I like your idea with the bumpers!!!!

It's so not your fault...try as hard as you can and they still manage to get into things, out of things and around things...it's their way.
