Scary Halloween costumes and kindergarten
My son has a skeleton/ zombie costume and I'm not sure that the mask will be acceptable so I was thinking of painting his face. We haven't gotten any rules yet about costumes what is not acceptable in your school ? I'm now questioning his entire costume.

Most schools say no masks for safety reasons.

No masks in our school. I'm not even sure that they allow a painted face.
A letter was sent home two days ago. This year they asked that the costumes be storybook characters. They want to promote reading. I thought it was kind of hard to do for a boy. My DS is going to be Scooby Doo. We have a few Scooby Doo books at home that he loves.
If they don't send something home by tomorrow I would e-mail the teacher, or send her a note. This way you have time to plan something else.

Scary Halloween costumes and kindergarten
Definately no masks. I don't know if I would paint his face either. In our school they change into their costumes and do not wear them all day.

Our school said no swords, knives, weapons & no "scary" costumes (my DD is in K--they are the only ones that dress up in costume).

Agree that there is probably a no mask policy at your school.
Our school has an anti-violence request to parents too & asks that the students curtail the blood factor.
There are a lot of kids dressed as zombies & skeletons. I wouldn't worry about it.
