Scary noise. Anyone else's baby do this? - Please read, gonna lose sleep tonight
This is the 3rd time this has happened...
DS is laying on his back. He gets excited and all of a sudden inhales with a stridor sound, eyes buldge, and it looks like he can't breathe. He either starts to cough or cry. The very 1st time it happened we were at the doctor's office and when the Dr came in I told her what happened and she said it could have been a little reflux. It scares me so much because it seems like he can't breathe and is starting to panic. I usually scoop him up and he's fine after. Never been a problem while sleeping (knock wood). Anyone else have a similar story or heard of this?
My thought, since this started as drool has increased is maybe he inhaled some of his saliva.

I dont have any experience but I would think a trip to the ped might put your mind at ease. how old is your baby? can you sleep with the monitor on or keep the baby in your room.

I would absolutely talk to the pediatrician....it will put your mind at ease, and maybe they will refer you to an ENT.

He's 3 months. We always have the video monitor on at night, but sleeping in our room isn't an option. I sleep with the monitor very close to me. The only time I heard it is when he was laying flat on the bed at the Dr office and 2x on the changing table (laying flat). Needless to say, DS's mattress is wedged slightly due to reflux issues so he isn't completely flat. Also only seems to happen if he's excited.

DS used to do this, and it was caused by reflux. I stopped laying him flat at night. He started sleeping elevated.

Can I ask you...did you google stridor?? In the first few weeks of my DS's life he was doing this strange breathing thing, I googled it and I swore he had stridor....I went the ped and voiced my concern, he said it mostly was NOT the issue, he checked him out and he was fine. It might just be a "thing" he does. Joey grew out of it but I swore he had a breathing problem. If your ped. checked it, I'm sure DC is ok If you are still concerned bring it up again, no harm in doing so.
(side note- DS did not/ does not have reflux. Although my ped did say that most newborns have SOME form of reflux so keep it in mind)

DS did that to me one night and I freaked out. It was like he couldn't swallow his saliva and it was pouring out of his mouth. I called the pedi and rushed him right over. He was fine when we got there. Dr. said it was probably caused by his reflux. He did it 2 more times after that.

DS#2 did this once...I honestly thought he was having a seizure or something (he wasn't shaking, but just the way he tensed up and his eyes bulged)...called the dr freaking out, brought him in, and the dr said he probably just choked on his own saliva...he also had bad reflux, so it could have been due to that.
I know its so scary
