Scheduled Inductions?
I'm starting to think it might be a good idea.
DH works in Queens, me in East Hampton, I'm delivering in Southampton and we live in between. I just worry that DH won't get there in time or I will go into labor in the middle of The Sunrise. Traffic in and out of Southampton is horrendous at anytime.
He thinks scheduling the birth is messing with Mother Nature, I think it's just more practical. Everyone would know where they are supposed to be and when and it would cause a lot less anxiety for me. I'm a wreck.
Any thoughts???

Re: Scheduled Inductions?
Are you able to schedule an induction? I know my doctor won't consider it until I go past my due date...
In my opinion, if there is no real medical need for it I would wait. My doctor told me today that he would much rather see someone go on their own rather than an induction...I know the thought of knowing the exact date and all is nice..believe me i feel your pain!! But I would rather leave it up to mother nature you know? Your body should let you know when its ready ...that is my feelings on it. Good luck with everything!!

Thanks, I kind of feel the same way but the thought of knowing, is so much easier. I have to talk to my Dr. on Thursday.

Re: Scheduled Inductions?
Another thing to consider is a lot of times inductions lead to c-sections if the baby isn't ready to come out.

Re: Scheduled Inductions?
I'm not certain you can schedule an induction. You can schedule a C-section, but that doctor pretty much has say in whether he/she thinks you should be induced or not. I was induced due to Cholestasis and ended up having to get a C-section. While it's not always the case, it's a pretty common occurance.
ETA: Plus, you never know. You may schedule something and STILL end up going into labor early.

Re: Scheduled Inductions?
I'd ask your dr and see what their practice is on scheduled inductions. My dr wouldn't sched anything unless i was dilated/effaced and making progress and at least 38-39 weeks pg.
My DH felt the same way, like we were messing with mother nature, but he left the decision to me since I was carrying the baby. But, May 1st at my dr's appt, our induction was scheduled for May 2nd at 6am, I went into labor right after my dr's appt on May 1st, and had DD at 6pm on May 2nd, no induction needed
ETS: Even if you go into labor in an inopportune time, majority of 1st time mothers labor for hours, which could give you time to get out to southhampton and DH to commute from queens.
I had labor pains starting at 2pm on May 1st, went to the hospital at 4am morning of may 2nd, and wound up only being 2 cm's.

Re: Scheduled Inductions?
I had a scheduled induction with my DS and probably will be having another one with this . It was a great experience which is why I'm doing it again.
