School Bus question
Would you send your kindergarten child on a bus to school if they were the only child on the bus? There would be no assistant, just your child and the bus driver. The school I would like to enroll DD in has no other families from our district. My second and third choices should both have other students on the bus.

Re: School Bus question
Ugh. It's an uncomfortable thing. I had a bus that DD would take solo to preschool and I didn't like it. We did it for 6 months because there was no other way and the school was great... but I always worried. There was a male bus driver half the time... and he was weird (as opposed to my son's current awesome bus driver who is also male).
Is there a possibility another family would come? Is there another way?

School Bus question
I don't think I would be comfortable with that. Is driving an option?

Re: School Bus question
No, I definitely would not do that. There are just too many sickos in this world.

Re: School Bus question
No, definitely not.
And I send my pre-K kid to school on a bus now (which some people gasp over). But I would not be comfortable with her being alone on the bus with just the driver.
Something to keep in mind also is that drivers sometimes call in sick, routes get switched etc. so it won't necessarily always be the same driver either.

I'm going to check with the district again to see if there is another family, but the bus request deadline is looming... I am able to drive, but I have two younger children and it would be so much easier for DD to take the bus.
I hate making this decision now because we're looking to move out of the district and then I will have to drive wherever she goes. But, I feel like I should make the decision based on where we are now, not where we hope to be....
Thanks all for validating my discomfort. I'll probably go with one of the other schools.

School Bus question
Nope. No way. I know I'd be way too uncomfortable and nervous with that.

Re: School Bus question
I'm confused though- is this a private Kindergarten? Why is she the only one on the bus?

I'm choosing between a few Catholic schools. The buses are run from the school district we live in.

Re: School Bus question
They may have your kid share a route... so other kids would be on and drop off at another place.
If you love the school, call and find out. We loved our school and I ended up driving DD even with a newborn... which wasn't that bad.
But yes, even though I did it and nothing happened... it's not a pleasant feeling.

Thanks. I'll call the transportation dept again. They should have more applications now and maybe the answer will be different...
I could drive. I do it a few days a week now. I just don't know if the difference in schools is really worth it. I do like the one school better though and I think it's $1k less.
