Would you buy a house where the assigned elementary school had a low rating but the middle school and high school were rated high?

Yea I would... IMO, the HS is most important and most school district rankings compare high schools

This is how my district is. I don’t think it’s a big deal.

Re: Schools
But what ratings are you looking at? If it's those Great schools/parent based ratings, then I absolutely would not let that stop me. If it's test scores or something objective, then perhaps.

The ratings are all skewed so I would look at the district as a whole. I know our elementary has lower scores because we house all the special needs children so obviously the test scores are lower but it in no way shows the tremendous work they do in the classrooms in both the special needs and gen ed classrooms. Take a look at the HS. The graduation rates and courses offered and that will give a better view than looking at test scores.

I actually don't pay attention to ratings. Anything can change from one year to the next. Even talking to multiple families that attend the same school, they will have varied feelings about the school based on their personal experience. And with so many opting out of state testing, how do you even begin to compare schools?

Is it ratings, or is it an actually bad? the whole ratings system is flawed, but it still is a data point.
From a resale perspective, the HS matters most. However, I'd hate to send my kids to a crappy elementary school, it is pretty impactful to their development and happiness.

Re: Schools
Yes. If the middle and HS have “high ratings” how bad could the elementary school that educated the kids from the beginning really be?
