Scrap Gals...need some advice
As I read through the magazines I see that there are some really creative pages. I've come to the realization that I have to stop collecting my supplies and actually use them. All that paper and those brads I have too much and I want to throw them all on my pages now...but where do I begin? I have a very simple style but I WANT to CHANGE that. How do you all come up with your pages and do you use a lot of embellishments?

Ang, I wish I knew. I have tons of this stuff and no idea where to begin. My hand will actually hover over the page with the embellishment and then I put it back in the box.
I need help too

Re: Scrap Gals...need some advice
I have probably spent $50 on embellishments in the last month. Maybe only used $2 or $3 worth...don't they look so pretty when they're in the store?
And, then when I need something that I thought was ugly in the store and didn't buy, I don't do the page.

Exactly!!! I talk myself out of using something because I might need it for another page. It's insane!

Re: Scrap Gals...need some advice
I find that doing challenges pushes me to explore new uses for embellishments, try new styles, color combos, etc. I also like to use some things on cards - less commitment and worry about how it "works".
This might be a good easy challenge - maybe we can post a list of ideas we can pull from. Here are a few off the top of my head - I've listed LO but it could also be a card.
Use 3 patterned papers in a LO Pick one monochrome color theme Use 3 different embellishements on a LO Use eyelets, brads and ribbon on one LO Use distress ink techniques Combine 3 types of text Journal in a format you don't normally use Pick an element in a LO you like from a magazine, and incorporate it into yours - could be the composition/format of pics, use of color, use of embellishments, etc.
