Second RE visit today...confused
So DH and I went back to the RE today for another ultra sound. The bloodwork from last week wasnt back yet...DH's was, but he didnt give it to us. Maybe he is waiting to do it all at once? He did another ultra sound...but didnt say much. He said the egg he saw last week could have been from last cycle. So he wants to do an HSG, which is fine...but you have to do it right after AF. SO he said if I didnt ovulate this week, and I dont get AF, that he would do the test anyway...but it could come back abnormal....so I dont get why he would do it I understand he doesnt want to wait for AF...because I am irregular...but why would I do it with the chance of it coming back abnormal??? Im just confused....I feel like this visit had no answers for me...I am so sad right now. Sorry this is so long.

Re: Second RE visit today...confused
I could be wrong, but I thought the HSG had to be btwn days certain days, so there is no risk that you are pregnant b/c the radiation from the x-ray could be damaging. I don't think it would change the results of the test.

Re: Second RE visit today...confused
I think if I was in ur position I would talk to your doc and tell him that you want to wait to do it until you know the results will be accurate. I'm sure you have read mixed reviews on the test but speaking form my experience of it..I would NOT want to do it again. I was not a happy camper after getting it done. Not only that but what if the results come back and show something that may or may not be accurate?? It will still haunt u until you know the results for sure. So if nothing else save urself the emotional stress of it.
This is just my opinion....

This is how I feel, and DH totally supports me. Thank you

See...last week he showed me an egg. He said I will probably ovulate within the next week..( meaning this past week) So then he said, we will look at the bloodwork, if it shows you have ovulated you will get a period in 2 weeks and we can do the test. BUT he told us to BD this week....so why wouldnt he say........we will look at the bloodowork and if it shows you ovulated hopefully you will be PG??? He went right to.....you will get a period in 2 weeks. Like....why assume that?? KWIM?

Re: Second RE visit today...confused
did he use the word abnormal? i'm not sure if that means inaccurate or the results would show that something was wrong.
i don't know enough about the HSG to say if it wouldn't be accurate because you didn't ovulate and no AF. i would specifically ask your dr if by abnormal he means that it wouldn't be as accurate and there is a chance you would have to repeat the procedure. if that's the case, i would wait.

Yea he said abnormal...so I am figuring that it would make the results innacurate. I think either way, I defnitley want to wait until I get AF on my own....that way I KNOW the test is accurate. Right? They are supposed to call me back with bloodwork results either today or monday. I will ask them for more details then I guess.

If it were me, I would wait until after AF regardless. This way you only have to do it once and have the results be spot on.
Sometimes these visits can be confusing because there is so much info to process. If you have any questions you should ask your RE, you should feel comfy enough w/ him to ask.

I think that is what I would be more comfortable doing....waiting for AF. And I am definitley going to speak to him abuot the HSG.....I need more information before I make that decision. Thanks
