Secondary English
Does anyone know of any teaching positions coming out? I know it's late in the season and most have already hired, but OLAS just seems like a dead end with nothing coming of it, this is for my DH who's working at a job he hates. It makes me so sad

At this point yes, sorry I didn't get the notice that someone replied. The TeachNYC website is SOOOO confusing though.

There should be an online application which he should fill out. I remember it being pretty straightforward. I can try to help if he has any ?s although it's been a while since I did it.
I got my DOE job through an organization called New Visions which supports NYC public schools.
I applied for a few positions through them which were filled by someone else, but they kept my resume on file and gave it to my now principal when the position I have opened up.
Positions can still open up mid year. Unfortunately, those positions might be in tougher schools. Teachers don't usually leave mid year unless there is an extreme situation, and sometimes it's "I can't/don't want to do this anymore."
I believe the ad I answered was on craigslist, so he should definitely watch there. He might also try directly applying to New Visions.
I hope this helps. I thought I would die looking for a job but it happened, so tell him to keep the faith!
