Secret Service Code Names RELEASED?!!!!!!
Why in the world would they do this? 
I could see for those who are deceased, but for people still alive? And Obama and his family?! 
First-family-to-be gets code names
The Secret Service traditionally has given pithy, private names to those whose lives they protect. The monikers are a throwback to a time when electronic communications were not encrypted, and they no longer serve a security function. Still, they give an occasional peek at the players' personalities, in addition to serving as great trivia questions.
President-elect Barack Obama: Renegade

That's really neat! Thanks for posting!
ETA they've always been made public. I don't think it would hurt the first family in any way to have this out there. They do SO much behind the scenes to protect them

I saw Obama's girl's names in People the other day and was shocked they would release that info. Glad I'm not the only one that finds it odd, and even a little disturbing.

I find it very odd. Why have code names if everyone knows them? They might as well call them Sasha and Malia.
Do you think these are the actual code names or do they release fakes? Releasing the names makes no sense to me, unless the president and his family are deceased.

they said (i heard on cnn or somewhere..) it's okay fo them to release it now because the names are now encrypted.. must be they got some new software.. so they assigned all new names..

I know that it says that ... but something about them releasing code names for people who are still alive just makes me feel uneasy.
Encryptions can be broken, can't they?

Yeah I am surprised that the names would be released. But, then again I probably watch too many spy movies, and was expecting the code names to be some confidential top secret information.
