sectionals or larger sofas

DH and I want to but new living room furniture - I need a sofa and recliner - Any suggestions on where to go - I would love a sectional but NEED something smaller - The LR isnt that big... If you have pics that would be great... A regular size couch fits nicely and I could go a little bigger - not much...

THANKS

Re: sectionals or larger sofas

We just got a nice sofa, loveseat and chair from Raynour & Flannigan. I don't have a picture because we haven't closed yet but we ordered it.

This is a link to the one we got. Sofa

You should look for a 3 piece sectional, it's smaller. Basically, it's the curved piece and two armchairs on either side. We saw a lot of them at the Place in Farmingdale when we bought our sectional.

Re: sectionals or larger sofas

A lot of places sell smaller sized sectionals so it might not be totally out of the question.

We needed a smaller sectional too for our porch/TV room. We got this one at The Place. The material is microfiber. Here it is with my DD in the pic watching Sesame Street. Don't know if you can see or not, but the only problem with the couch is it turns her hair STATIC!!! Chat Icon

Re: sectionals or larger sofas

Just dont go to Jennifer Convertibles. I bought mine from there in Westbury and what a disaterous experience and it's my own fault because I went against my better judgement and research I did because I loved the way the couch looked. Not only did they deliver my couch and cause major damage to my back porches wood fence, my hallways woodwork and walls as well as scratch up the newly painted walls but after they literally kicked the sofa through the doorways. I called JC to complain and they tell me that they would refund the money but the delivery guys are contracted out and not part of JC and I would need to get two contractors to come out and look at the damage to give estimates and they will try to make a decision. Okay so after that craziness. I also paid extra for the warranty because I have little kids with sticky fingers. They tell me that any damage by food is covered. Okay ladies this is were it gets good. The salesman tells me(and what a cowinkydink)that he even had a man get permanent marker on the couch and with soap and water he got it out and that's all we should use when cleaning the couch(remember this comment)Chat Icon Wouldnt you know my 2yr old gets a black magic marker rights all over the couchChat Icon So I call them and they tell me to clean it with soap and water see what happens(nada)okay so I call back and they tell me to use oxyclean(nada)okay now they stop taking my phone calls. I call the warranty # and they tell me it doesnt cover marker and if I use anything including soap and water I void my warranty completly. So they came out to look and cleaned my couch(still a marker stain). Two months later Im having a birthday party for my 4yr old and my uncle spills coffee down the side of the couch and my son drips icecream on 4 of the cushions. So I call the next day and get told that they are denying the claim because it is obviously excessive wear and tear and Im not covered for that. So I ask him to elaborate on why it is excessive wear and tear and he tells me my warrenty doesnt cover me having a birthday party in my house and children destroying the couch with icecreamChat Icon Are you kidding me? So I asked him, " so in other words as long as I have this couch Im not allowed to host and parties at my home?" He tells me well if you want to put it that way...OMG!! Talk about wanted to reach through the phone. After that one of the pillows attached to the back of the chaise tore away from the backing, again sorry you were denied your last to claims so we cant come out to repair the damage.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACEChat Icon Chat Icon Not worth the trouble and the research I did the two people(one in CA and one in VA)had the same problem.
Sorry for venting but I got on a roll since Im sitting on the couchChat Icon Chat Icon

Well I know I would NEVER buy from The Place again - After over a year they FINALLY got me a DR table that was in good condition... All the rest were terrible... Thanks for the info on Jennifer Convertibles...

I got my leather set from Jennifer & the service was excellent-no complaints at all.
My friend got an adorable smaller sectional from Ikea last year.

Re: sectionals or larger sofas

We went to North Carolina Furniture...I believe they are a lot cheaper than other places. We are getting a 10 person section (pretty big) and they gave us a great price. We were originally going to purchase our dining set from The Place in farmingdale but N.C. furniture were able to get it for us for $600 less than The Place. It's worth checking out.

Re: sectionals or larger sofas

We have a big sectional but... We got it at Fortunoff. We were shocked at the prices. I honestly didn't even want to look there cause I thought it would be to expensive. It was cheaper and nicer then anywhere else we looked.

i got mine at Jennifer Convertibles and we have a small living room too. We only had enough room for a couch that was
105"L x 64"D and this fit perfectly!!!

I have a small living room too but found a nice two-piece sectional. It's 9'2 one way and 7'5 the other way. It's also a sofabed. I love it! Don't have a pic though...

Saw it at Jennifer Convertables but then found this place called Route 110 Clearance Center in Farmingdale. They got me the exact same couch for a lot less money.

Can anyone comment on how much Jennifer Convertibles charges for delivery? And how long did you have to wait for the order to be delivered?

Re: sectionals or larger sofas

I dont remember the charge for delivery but it only took us about a week to get it since it was in stock. Just be aware that they contract out for delivery so the people delivering are not employees of JC.

Room and Board is really great if you prefer a sleeker/more modern sofa. You can order most of their sofas in different lengths, 83" vs. 79" makes a big difference sometimes, you know?

The showroom is in Soho so it may be sort of a trek but they have a great catalog and website too.

Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel also have a selection of smaller sized sofas.

Re: sectionals or larger sofas

WE have a sectional from JC Penneys which has 3 recliners.
We had a smaller area to work with as well, the sectional came with 2 recliners and we added a 3rd because we had some addtional room.
