"Security Blanket" Please help
In order for my son to be able to fall asleep (especially in the middle of the night) is to pull my hair (on the top of my head) and hit or pinch my face. I know it sounds weird, but I think he does it to know that I am there. (This is his security blanket).
He is 8 months, and I am trying to get him to stop. I am very stern when I say "No, Derek. Do nice to mommy." Then I take him hand and show him how to do nice.
Any suggestions on how to stop this? Thanks!

Get a King sized bed.
No really though...have you tried getting him attached to a real security blanket. It probably took my DD a few weeks but I laid it with her every night & when she would move away from it in her sleep and I would see them separated I would put it back right there with her. Now she loves it!! If she happens to wake up in the night and it's not right there touching her, she crawls the whole crib looking for it before she will go back to sleep.

Maybe try to transition him to the crib or distance yourself from him in the bed. I know that Emma needs to hold onto her blanket to fall asleep. Then I usually take it away. Does he/she have a security blanket or something else to hold onto?
Do you have a DD or a DS? Your Avatar says DD, so I'm confused
