Self Perception

When reading some polls (asking questions about you or your personality) and the answers i often wonder if people's perception of themselves are TRUE assessments or rather what they wish they were...

Or just if the self perceptions were accurate in general

Do you think you know how others REALLY percieve you?

Re: Self Perception

I know I always answer polls accurately in regard to how I see myself. However, I don't know if people perceive me the same way I perceive myself. I'm actually always wondering what people think of me.

Hmm... toughie. I would HOPE people see me for how I am, I try to be "Me" as much as I can be here. Though i am unsure entirely as to how people DO really perceive me. Chat Icon

BUT I will fully admit this much : I do put on a bit of a "happy face" online because I am not the type to really air out my problems and/or dirty laundry to everyone. I internalize a LOT. So often I think the general population perceive me as positive and optimistic, whereas deep down I have an incredible amount of stress and anxiety and often can be an extremely pessimistic and down on myself type of indidivual (just as my DH Chat Icon)

So that part of me, yes I do think I keep that from all but those folks who TRULY "know me"

Nope. My perception of myself vs. what other people think of me are sometimes polar opposites, and sometimes they are similar. I don't think either one is entirely accurate though.

Re: Self Perception

I know that in the "real world" people preceive me as tough to get to know. It is something that I have been working on over the past few years and I think I am overcoming it.

In this world, I honestly have no idea how I am preceived. I would hope that people think I am nice and helpful. I do try to be diplomatic when answering difficult questions. I always stay true to myself, but I try to understand other people's views.

I also think i am truthful and a goodhearted person and i love everyone and trust everyone that is something i need to learn not to do! but i am not talking about anyone on here I mean in general even at work you just dont know how a person will percieve you as a person if you want respect you have to earn it. I dont know how people percieve me i hope its all good but one does not know!
