Self Storage Units
These are my local choices so far: All inthe Farmingdale area:
Westy $198 a month 7x15 climate controlled 2nd floor (elevators available)
Public Storage $139 a month 10x10 air conditioned / dehumidified 1st floor
A Space Place $89 1st 3 months then $149 a month after that 10 x 10 climate controlled (not sure what level)
Anyone ever use any of these places? Good Bad?

Re: Self Storage Units
For the last two months, I've been using Public Storage, in Garden City. It is immaculate...and always empty. The only thing that I had an issue with was I was decieved about the whole first floor thing. Go see the unit yourself. Yeah, mine is first floor, but I have to go into the building, use 2 access codes, go through some hanging plastic tarp thingys that smack you in the face and then walk through the maze they have set up in there to get to our unit.
I would have prefered an outside unit that I could have just driven up too...This made moving in a nightmare...while i saw other people just driving up there car, unloading & calling it a day...I should not have paid the extra money for first floor inside unit when I'm walking a half a mile to get to my stuff. Also, there are alot of hidden fees, wasn't such a great deal financially.

Re: Self Storage Units
Hum.....thanks.......I was feeling a little leary about Public Storage when we spoke anyhow. They were trying to say that Air COnditioned meant climate controlled Not if I am storing photos & collectables!

Re: Self Storage Units
We used public storage in commack for the past 8 months. We never had a problem. We had a drive up space, which was very nice. We did not have climate controlled.. all our stuff was fine - we just moved it out on Saturday.

Re: Self Storage Units
I used Public Storage on 110, near Great Neck Rd (Next to Parkway Car Stereo). I highly recommend them. The people who manage this property are the best, they work with you.
If you need anymore info, please FM me

Thanks!! I went to look because of that!! The place is clean!!! The 1st floor unit is REALLY easy to get through, right in the back door!!!
I will go back to see the 2nd floor ones available because they are about $22 cheaper a month.....
I went to the Space Place (the least expensive for the duration of the time we need it for) but didn't even go in. It was too industrial & hard to get too!

Re: Self Storage Units
we use public storage. DH has a first floor unit which is right near the door - great location, but i don't see why he needs it seeing as he NEVER goes in and out to get his stuff. i'm looking forward to getting it outta there all together soon!

That's what DH & I just talked about on the phone! We're going to go with a 2nd floor unit at Public Storage and save the $22 bucks a month!
