selling diamond..
just curious...for a 25k diamond engagement ring, how much do you think it would sell for? i know the appraisal value/actual selling value are different..
but just curious..
its a 1.5carat center stone that i'm assuming is basically flawless

Re: selling diamond..
awww thanks girlies
it's just kinda put us in a slightly awkward situation lol
we've only been dating 3 months..
do we hold on to it "just in case" for the sentimental value? but that obviously puts a slight bit of pressure on him, and im afraid of it being a white elephant in the relationship...
or do we sell it, for obviously less than it's worth, n then he has to buy a new one down the road for close to the cost of the one we sold?
im not complaining about it, just awkward haha

Re: selling diamond..
Did you win the Diamond from the London jewelers event? I would keep it. You will never get nearly what it is worth. If its meant to be, then use it then. It could be a right hand ring for now.

Re: selling diamond..
The rule of thumb is that you generally get half of what its worth.
My girlfriend sold hers and then had a store credit that she used when she got engaged a few years later...
If you want I can find out who she used..I know he was in the diamond district.

I would hold on to it and then sell when it's really needed.

Re: selling diamond..
make it a necklace or a cocktail ring for your right hand for now, then if/when you're ready to move forward, go buy an e-ring setting!

I agree--he wasn't scared off by this
Like ppl said, you won't get the amount its worth and while its still "found money", you don't want to lose half of it.
If you sold it, would you split the $$ with your BF? If not, I'l have it made into a necklace and then have re-set later if necessary

Re: selling diamond..
I would keep it...if your relationship turns down that road in the future you have the main event, and just re-set into something you love! I wouldn't feel any pressure at all.

Re: selling diamond..
being in the business i would hold on to it. you really dont get what you would think you would get. when peopl come in the store we tell people to hold on to it. they really "bang" you when you sell it.
what about malking into a neckalce?? thats an idea since you dont want a ring!
