Semi busy road- Yes or no?
I found a house that we love. Everything is beautiful, its totally renovated and has the space we need. The backyard is huge, and its in a great neighborhood. But of course, its off of a semi- busy road. I know that this neighborhood is very quiet, but this road is mainly used to get into the little side streets. The house is in the middle, and its a dead end road.
Would you consider it? The price is a steal for the size and quality of the house.

Can your children ride there bikes in the street without you having to worry about them getting hit by a car?
How noisy is it really?
how hard would it be for resale??
We were in this situation a few times, and ended up passing the houses up...

I live on a block that is a cut-through to a major road and the traffic can be a little annoying at times. I think you have to take into consideration what that would be like for children some day who want to play outside.

Re: Semi busy road- Yes or no?
how long has the house been on the market for? is it having a hard time selling? think of safety and resale. if it doesn't meet your needs in those two things...i wouldn't settle for it. there will be another i'm sure of it!

The road is that busy and it's a dead end? Is the house on the dead end block?

Re: Semi busy road- Yes or no?
After living in a noisy place for years, quiet was important to us. We were considering houses on semi major roads, "double yellows" as we called them, but decided not to.
Judging by the things we didn't anticipate initially, like the school and church that were nearby and thus more traffic at certain times, we're glad we didn't.
Just my experience, there may be a lot of people who don't mind. But resale value, like they said, should also be a factor.

This road and another road a few blocks down are the only way to get to the streets in between them. I'd estimate that on a busy day maybe 30-40 cars would travel on this road. This house is in the middle of the busy road.
To answer other questions, its been on the market for close to a year and had a huge price reduction. My kids could play out in the front, but I'd have to really watch them. The yard is huge (100x160) so I feel like they'd have plenty of room in the backyard.
I'm worried about resale though. Even though it would be our forever house I don't know if a lot of buyers would want it.
