Semi-Inground Pools and Maintenance, costs and recommendations
Hello!
Looking to get a semi inground pool very soon! I have a deck currently, so i'll need to build it off it. I have had Brothers 3 here for an estimate and total, with the deck, supplies and labor, for a 12x17 oval, we are talking at least $12000 (need trex decking to match what i have)
Besides THAT, what are the average costs for maintenance?
I was told by them to NOT get a salt water pool as it corrodes the metal.
Also, I need a special pool thats made to go semi-inground and that quote they gave me was for lifetime guarantee.
Any other recommendations?
Thank you!

Re: Semi-Inground Pools and Maintenance, costs and recommendations
We just went through all of this and the pool is being installed as I type.
Brothers 3 is the most expensive on Long Island. That's what we discovered.
I too, have an existing trex deck which I'm dreading having to add onto to get to the pool. $$$$$
Some pools will come with a lifetime guarantee, not just the ones from Bros 3. All above ground pools can be semi inground.
We were going to do semi inground, but decided to keep it above ground for a few reasons. The cost of installation was about $1,000 difference between semi in and above ground. That's not why we decided to go above ground, but, just to give you an idea. We have 2 small kids and didn't want them to be able to climb into it from the grass was the main reason. The 2nd reason was we have a huge tree stump in the back and that was/is causing some issues.
After the pool is in, maintenance shouldn't be to much. I think it's aprox. $250-$300 to open your pool w/ the chemicals every year.
FM me if you want to know anything else. Best of luck!!
Edited to say, I didn't realize your quote included your deck. Not sure about the price then. We got a 12 by 24 pool and their quote for everything minus the deck was $8K. Maybe you can get a quote from a contractor for just the deck and back out of the pool costs and see how much it is. Not sure about the size of your deck, but that sounds really high, especially since you got a smaller size pool.

Re: Semi-Inground Pools and Maintenance, costs and recommendations
I have done tons of research on semi inground pools and not any above ground pool can go into the ground only specific ones. Make sure you ask for an engineers report for it since most towns want one for the permit. And double check the warranty and see if its a manufacturers or a store warranty because some companies try to fool you and give you a steel pool for semi. And through research you will find that steel will rust in the ground.
And it should cost about 200 to maintain your pool for the year.

That's what I was told Jennifer...only certain pools should go in semi. So I DONT want a Metal one and I WANT a Manufacturers warranty?
Thank you!

Yeah a manufacturers warranty is what you want. Also look the companies up on the better business bureau that should help, well at least it helped me.

Re: Semi-Inground Pools and Maintenance, costs and recommendations
Ok, So far...its been such a big production b/c we need a deck coming off our current deck. Then 2nd estimate today was the installer for backyard masters... He found two tree trunks in the lawn...so we have to go around them! and the whole safety thing for kids is an issues...do we have gates to lock it off and the current whole deck thing is a bit weird.
I'm having a 3rd one come this week (Gus pools, actually my dads friend) so we'll see what happens.
I also found out we need an electrician to run a line to the filter/pump. I had no idea and the first people didnt say a word about that nor found the stumps!
