Sending hot food in school lunch?
What does everyone use to keep lunch food hot for your kids at school? Those Thermos jars? Do they work? My son is 3.5 and up until now, every class he has been in (he has been in daycare at the school where I work since 3 months old) has had a microwave, so I never had to send in food already heated. The class he will be in this year does not have a microwave. I've been looking at those Thermos jar things, and they claim to keep food hot for 5 hours- can that really be true? And does the food not get soggy- like chicken fingers, for example? Any other suggestions? TIA!

I have used the really good thermos brand ones and wrapped the food in tin foil and then put it in there... It usually works.... It is trial and error..

Re: Sending hot food in school lunch?
I found a thermo bowl that is excellent at stop and shop it canned with a spoon fork. I use it for soups (doesn't leak) pasta, mac&cheese, chicken nuggets...works gray keeps food warm. I have a thermo jar it's just a little difficult for my toddler to get the food out. The bowl is so much better. You can even microwave the bowl with the food just twist on the top and ready to go.

My sister warms the food in the morning and puts it in thermos for all 3 kids. Seems to work for them!

Re: Sending hot food in school lunch?
i was told boil water pour it the thermos let it get warm, pour out the water and put hot food in and it stsys warm until lunch.
i was also told to not twist the top to tight b/c the heat creates a suction and they can't open it.
i don't think it makes the foods to soggy, of course it wont be super crispy but most kids don't care lol
