Serious problem - I'm an undercover LIF'er...
I am writing undercover because I am a reg poster but family and friends are on here also.
I have a serious problem. My SIL watches my child a few days a week. Over the weekend she had a breakdown. And now she can't get out of bed. I know she has a drinking problem and a whole bunch of other problems that I am just finding out.
I don't want my child staying with her anymore but I don't know how to tell her without upsetting her.
Plus now I need someone to watch my child 2 days a week starting tomorrow because I have to go to work.
I don't know what to do. DH and his family don't want to admit there is a serious problem and they all think I am crazy. They think she is over it and is just not feeling well. Well, I know the truth. She has told me about some serious things that have happened to her.
I don't know what to do. Any advice?

your child's safety is top priority and it sounds like you should definately have someone else watch your child. Tell her that you want to give her time to get back to herself, relax and not have to watch a child while she's getting better.
hugs to you

Since his family wont help her maybe you can bring her to a therapist to start the ball rolling on her getting help. The biggest thing though is that she needs to realize she has a problem otherwise nothing is going to work. As far as watching your child, is their anyone else that can watch your DC. Until you can find maybe a daycare center. I tink you should just be honest with her and tell her that you are worried about your childs well being and it would be best if she helped herself first and then maybe try again once she gets better.

I agree with the above posters. I would talk to your SIL and tell her that it is very stressful to watch a baby and you want her to get better and get some help and the stress of doing both is going to be too much for her. Tell her that in another month or two or more you both can sit down and discuss her watching your child again.
I wish I could help with the baby sitting

I feel so bad Your child's safety is the most important here of course! Do you have any family, friends or neighbors you can trust to watch your child?
