Seriously is there "fake" news
I keep hearing trump and his supporters constantly whining about "fake" news. Is there any merit to it?
Is he doing good that is not being reported? I really would like to know.
I went on a person FB page that I stopped following cause I couldn't take all the political post esp. Since he is a Trump supporter and sure enough he is still posting and his last one was about "fake" news.
Where can I really get unbiased news is there such a site/news organization without me having to read a bunch of different articles and search the internet?

Re: Seriously is there "fake" news
It's called "gaslighting". If you consistently reduce the legitimacy of facts, you can change the story that people hear and believe.
A lot of what is being claimed as "fake news" is literally clips of trump saying something. If a dozen newspapers show the same clip of him actually saying something, it's not "fake news".
When independent people and organizations fact-check news items, and they all concur, but it just happens to make the current administration look bad, trump and the the alt-right start screaming "fake news".
Yes, there is usually some bias and leaning in one direction or another, but the underlying facts are true, despite what trump keeps trying to claim.

It's like living first hand in the Twilight Zone. It's sad but also kind of fascinating.

Seriously is there
I specifically remember an incident last week where he accused the media of "Leaking sensitive information" = crime. Fox took this quote and raaaaaaan with it, claiming the liberal news media is to blame for leaks. And that the Russia collusion story is "fake news"

Seriously is there
There is such a thing as fake news, but it's Breitbart, Fox News, and other media that Trump watches. I know that CNN, MSNBC, etc can go overboard with the theatrics (I'm looking at you, Rachel Maddow, when you made a *big* deal over "leaked Trump tax returns"), but in general, they're not made up stories.
And I know it sounds biased to say Fox News and Breitbart is fake, but they have run actual fake information that has been fact checked by non-partisan organizations.

Re: Seriously is there "fake" news
It's not "fake news", it's UNFAVORABLE news towards him. Instead of accepting criticism like a grown man he turns around and makes it seem like anything that is UNFAVORABLE is "fake news". Does the media sensationalize stories? Absolutely!! But when MULTIPLE media outlets are reporting the SAME story in the SAME way they can't all be lying and making stories up.
Trump acts like he is an honest, upstanding man and that we should all thank God for his Twitter rants because he's making sure we get the "real news". From him. A lying ignorant imbecile. Other presidents concern themselves with doing their job and not worrying about everything that is said in the media, this jack@ss does NOTHING but track every word said about him, refute it, and spin a whole other tale to make it seem like the media is all "fake news". It's just all ridiculous.

Seriously is there
There is a hypocrisy at the center of his arguments: you either have "fake news" or truthful leaks. But, he uses them interchangeably and doesn't care that he is contradicting himself constantly.

Re: Seriously is there "fake" news
I did encounter a 'fake news' site once. It was set up to look like ABC News, but the graphics were off slightly, and while the domain seemed legit- I believe it was abcnews.com or similar. But real ABC News is abcnews.go.com.
I was looking into a story about Hillary Clinton's campaign hiring people from Craigslist to come to rallies and that site was the first to come up. After I read the article, which wasn't well-written, and looked more closely, I realized it was fake. But someone less savvy might think it was real ABC News.
Anyone can call themselves a journalist these days, and people think stuff on the web is gospel when a lot of it's clickbait and propaganda.
