Sesame Street Party Ideas Needed
Anyone throw a Sesame Street Party? I will have about 25 kids all under 6 years old ...
So far I have
Decorations: primary colors table cloths (red, blue, green, yellow) Balloons - primary color latex and 26" Mylar character balloons (different character for each table) Scene Setter Sesame Street Background with characters to hang up on a wall
Game Ideas:
"Oscar's Garbage Toss" - 3 tries to get crumpled up newspaper into Oscar's Garbage Can
"Pin the Cookie in Cookie Monster's Mouth" - like pin the tail on the donkey
"Ernie's Rubber Ducky Pool" - have 10 ducks in a pool. 2 ducks will have a red sticker on the bottom. Child gets 3 chances to find a duck with a sticker on the bottom
Coloring Pages with crayons on the tables
Can you think of anything else or something different?

Do you think I need more activities? I was looking into Twinkletown also.

I would also add games such as Musical Chairs, or a Pinata...I'm not that great at that stuff that's why I'm getting entertainment characters from Send in the Clowns...

Re: Sesame Street Party Ideas Needed
For the duckie game, I'd put a sticker under every ducky, just different color stickers.
This way everyone wins a prize. you could have a green bucket, red bucket, blue bucket and depending on which sticker they get they'll always get a prize and will pick out of different buckets.
one bucket could be totally cheapo stuff that kids love, like little tattoos, things you get in the party store.
each bucket could be a "step up" from eachother.
also do you have a CD with tons of sesame street songs? you can have it playing the whole time. i have probably a good 20-30 sesame street songs if you need help with that. i can burn and mail you a CD.
It would be fun to make their own character masks out of paper plates. I've made masks for almost everything with my students in Pre-K, they are really easy to make.
Or you could make character puppets using paper bags....
Good luck and have fun! Let us know how it turns out!

Great Ideas. I love the different bucket idea. I have a personalized Elmo CD, but I want one with all the characters on it too.
The masks sound cool too. Could I do it with just crayons? Can you FM instructions?
TIA

I did for Isabella's first. I 'll see if I can find some pics! I also did a different charcter for each table, the centerpiece was a stuffed character, we ties the ballons to the character. I'm going to try to find pics.

Re: Sesame Street Party Ideas Needed
I don't know if there are set directions, necessarily.
Pick 2-3 characters to pick from.
Like: Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster.
Start with Paper Plates for each.
On white paper, draw the eyes, nose, mouth for each. You can pre-cut some for the younger kids, and have them ready to be cut with kid-safe scissors for older kids, maybe ages 4-5 and up.
Put them in envelopes and label them, Then put all the materials for each character in one large ziploc baggie.
The child will pick a character, get a paper plate. Color the paper plate the appropriate color.
Then give them the eyes, nose, mouth and they'll glue them on.
You (or an adult) will help to cut out eye holes, and then you can tie it around the child's head.
For Elmo and cookie monster you might want to pre-cut the plate into the shape of their head, but for big bird you can keep it round.
Let me know if you want some Sesame Street songs, like I said, we have tons. C is for Cookie, I don't want to live on the moon, rubber duckie, tons from DVDs that we have that DH has ripped off and put into itunes. I can burn them all to a CD for you.
You could do SS song CDs as a favor!

Re: Sesame Street Party Ideas Needed
Lisa, it sounds like you have some adorable games planned.
Take it from me, don't plan too many structured/ organized games.
The kids just want to play and dance. Lots of times they don't want to stop to play an organized activity.
If you have music; a table set up with playdough/ crayons/ coloring pages; some tattoos...you're good to go.
Maybe the Pin the Cookie game and 1 other. Unless you have someone to run the games, it is so exhausting. You are going to want to take pics and talk to your guests. organizing the children to play games is hard when you are hosting the party.
You can maybe ask an older(teen) niece or family friend to run the activities so it can free you up to host.
Good luck, can't wait to make the favors, and if you need anything else, please email or FM.
I'm going to answer your email right now.
